Animal figurines may be made of clay, metal, cast iron or other many other materials. They are collector items as well as decorative pieces. Some collectors grow their collection from a few pieces to huge numbers that will fill an entire room. Some are selective about what they are collecting. For example, one who frequently travels will want to keep only figurines that he bought from abroad. This way each piece connects to a certain experience that gives him some emotional satisfaction. It is also a physical manifestation of the places he has visited.
Figurines are not just free standing pieces. There are boxer figurines showing only the head, framed and hanged on the wall. There are dog figurines that serve as a holder of a bowl that can hold fruits or a table flower arrangement. Or how about molded dog figurines used as cabinet door pulls. These are whimsical items that can be included in a collection depending on the notion of the owner.
