There is not one type of fish food that can be used on different types of tropical fish. Each kind of fish has its own particular needs. In fact, feeding requirements can vary within the fish’s lifespan. Fish tropical food comes in a range of types. There are flake food, frozen food, live food and pellets. Others prefer to make their own fish food.

When feeding tropical fish, the important thing to remember is to give them just enough food that they can eat within a few minutes. Flake foods tend to settle at the bottom of the container and can affect the filtration system. The proper way to feed fish is to do it a little at a time more frequently. Observe the container. If there is food left after feeding, remember to give less next time. It is also a good idea to remove uneaten food after each feeding session.
